Upon returning from a long stay in the USA after my university entrance exam, I decided to choose a profession in which an international focus played a large role. This became a reality when I studied to become a graduate translator of English and Spanish at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne. My time as a student included several long stays in English-speaking and Spanish-speaking countries.

After working for two years as a translator in a Cologne-based translation agency, where I gained practical experience in a variety of industries, I decided to strike out on my own and become a freelancer. The start of my career as a freelancer in January of 1993 coincided with the boom of the localization industry and the increased need for high-quality translations in new, highly specialized fields.
