In 1992, I completed my degree at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne as a graduate translator of English and French. I then began an internship in a well-known translation agency in Cologne and was offered a permanent position after three months. This is where I learned all of the “ins and outs” of the translating business – from making bids, accepting and assigning jobs to the further processing of small and large-scale jobs in more than 10 languages. In the field of translation, my focus was on construction machinery.
After three years, I switched to Rheinschrift in 1996. As the first full-time employee, I was able to experience the entire developmental phase of this still new company, which I found very exciting and informative. As the agency grew, so too did the number of tasks and new challenges. As a result, I soon found that I had to manage large-scale projects as a project manager in addition to my work as a translator.
